The founder and the workshop

Express YourShelf was started by Malak Mourad in Alexandria, from a simple belief: furniture should carry the care that went into it.

At Express Yourshelf, we believe every home has its own soul, and every piece of furniture should reflect the personality and unique touch of those who live in it.

That’s why we thoughtfully craft each piece with love and attention to detail, blending beauty, simplicity, and flexibility to become part of your home’s story, evolving with your dreams and needs.

In our Alexandria workshop, boards are selected, cut, turned and carved, then finished by hand. A small team knows every piece by name, from the first drawing to the day of delivery.

The craft

We shape wood with patience. Legs are turned on the lathe one at a time, pedestals are carved by chisel, and surfaces are polished by hand until the eye touches them before the palm does. We work in classic and contemporary styles side by side: a console on bobbin-turned legs, a table inspired by Japanese balance, a plain cube stool.

All of this takes time. We never rush a piece, and we never deliver one we are not proud of.

Materials

We work in solid hardwood, beech among them, and we choose boards one by one. Grain, knots and variations in tone are part of each piece's character, which is why no two pieces are the same.

Finishes are applied by hand: natural oils that bring out the grain, or a high-gloss lacquer where the design calls for it, with brass or ceramic pulls on some pieces. We choose the finish and the size with you.

How a piece is made

• We begin with the drawing and the dimensions, and confirm them with you.
• We select the boards and arrange them so their grain works together.
• Cutting, turning, carving and joining in the workshop.
• Sanding and hand finishing, coat after coat.
• A final inspection, then packing and delivery to your home.

Some pieces are ready in stock; others are made for you after confirmation. Each product page says which.

Two lines, one idea

The handmade collection
Coffee tables, side tables, consoles, dining tables, stools, storage and fireplaces. Finished pieces, delivered assembled, made to stay in place for generations.

Lamma
The modular line. Solid-wood boards 5 cm thick join with hidden connectors to form tables, shelving, consoles and wardrobes. You design in a 3D builder, choose assembled or boxed delivery, and when your home changes you rebuild the same pieces into something new. The name comes from the Arabic lamma, a gathering: pieces that come together, part, and gather again.

Both lines come from the same workshop, the same wood and the same hands.
