Delivery quotation
Delivery is not included in the price of a piece. After you send your request, we calculate it from the address, the size and number of pieces and the delivery method, and we confirm it with you together with the final total before the order is confirmed.
Delivery zones:
- Alexandria: directly from our workshop.
- Cairo and Giza: regular delivery runs; we give you the next available date.
- Other governorates: arranged with you, sometimes with a transport company. Large or distant orders need a specific quotation.
The expected delivery date is stated in the confirmation. If anything changes, we tell you at once.
Delivery methods
Pieces from the handmade collection are always delivered assembled.
For Lamma designs you choose one of three methods:
Assembled
We assemble the design in our workshop and deliver it ready to its place in your home. Suitable for pieces that fit through doors and stairways at full size; we check this with you before confirmation.
Boxed · self-assembly
The pieces arrive in numbered boxes with the connectors, the key and an assembly guide specific to your design. Assembly is simple: boards joined by hidden M6 bolts, no glue and no special tools. A medium design takes two people one to two hours.
Boxed · assembly visit
The pieces arrive in boxes, then a technician from our team visits at an agreed time and assembles the design in place. The visit fee is an estimate at the time of ordering and is confirmed with you together with the total. Available in Alexandria and Cairo, and in other governorates where possible.
Inspection on delivery
Inspect the pieces or boxes with the delivery team before signing the delivery note. If you find damage to the packaging or the piece, note it on the delivery note and photograph it.
If damage appears after you open the boxes, tell us within 48 hours, with photos. We put it right at our cost, as explained on the Returns and Warranty page.
For Lamma orders, count the pieces against the enclosed parts list. If a piece or a connector is missing, tell us and we send it at once.
The nature of wood
Every piece is solid wood, and every board is different. Grain, knots and variations in tone are part of a piece's character, not a fault. We select and match boards carefully so the piece looks coherent, but no two pieces are identical, and neither photographs nor the 3D preview can reproduce the exact identity of each board.
Wood changes colour slightly with time and light. This is natural and gives the piece depth over the years.
Humidity and heat
Solid wood breathes: it expands slightly in humidity and contracts in dry air. This slight movement is natural. To keep it to a minimum:
- Keep the piece away from heaters, direct air-conditioning and strong sunlight.
- Leave a small gap between the piece and the wall in humid rooms.
- In Alexandria's humid climate, drawers may need a little time at the start of summer to settle. This is normal.
- Do not place the piece on a wet floor or under a window that lets in water.
Cleaning and finish care
- Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn marks, use a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately.
- Do not use chemical cleaners, alcohol, abrasives or silicone polishes.
- Use coasters under hot or wet items, and wipe up any liquid at once.
- Oiled surfaces: renew the oil every 6 to 12 months with a natural furniture oil, applied thinly with a cloth, wiping off the excess after 15 minutes. We can tell you the right product for your piece.
- Lacquered or varnished surfaces: dry cleaning is enough; they need no oil.
- Small scratches on oiled surfaces can be treated with a very light sanding and re-oiling. Ask us before any larger repair.
Moving Lamma pieces and re-tightening connectors
Lamma is designed to be taken apart and rebuilt. When moving house or moving a piece:
- Dismantle the design into its boards instead of carrying it whole. An assembled piece is heavy, and carrying it whole strains the connectors.
- Keep the connectors and bolts in one bag with the parts list.
- Carry boards by their edges and do not drag them across the floor.
- When reassembling, tighten the bolts in sequence as in the guide, without over-tightening.
The hidden connectors are held by M6 bolts. With the natural movement of wood they can loosen slightly. Check and gently re-tighten them every 6 months and after every move. If a connector will not hold after tightening, tell us; this is covered by the warranty.
